Magnus Frederik Clausen

In his artistic practice, Magnus Frederik Clausen investigates painting as a space for study in process and materiality. He is absorbed by the significance and representation of painting, and tries to illuminate the medium's linguistic qualities in different contexts.

(2) made by the artist and his father between 1980- 1990

(3) exhibition curated by the artist in 2013. The show was held in the former exhibition space Apart located in the penthouse apartment of Hotel Kong Arthur in Copenhagen. Tjener showcased works from a list of artists amongst writings and works by other professionals. Participants: Marianne Hesselbjerg, Jørgen Michaelsen, Kristine Kemp, Jacob Jessen, Stine Marie Jacobsen, Mikkel Magnussen, Deirdre Johanna Humphrys, Magnus Frederik Clausen, Sylvester Hegner, Niels Heie and Simon Neubert-Luckner

(4) sculpture made by Marianne Hesselbjerg in 1999. During a three-months residence at the Danish Institute in Rome, Hesselbjerg went down with fever and spent most of her days inside the institute. In her impossibility to leave the building and conceive the work she had planned, she decided to take inspiration from her present situation, that she referred to as the navel of the World. She started to measure all the pieces of furniture at the institute. These measures became the sketch for a series of structures that served as plinths for the bronze casts that depicted the Omphalos from Delphi. Verdens navle was first exhibited in 1999 in a solo show by Hesselbjerg at Galleri Stalke in Copenhagen. The work was later included in the group show Tjener at Apart in Copenhagen, but without the furniture plinths
